HALL OF FAME: A RECORD OF NSPRA HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Fred Gladstone

Fred Gladstone became an active rodeo competitor at an early age in calf roping and cow milking, and joined the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association in 1948. He was the first Indian to capture a Canadian Calf Roping Championship, as a Rookie that year. In 1950 and 1952, he won Canadian Championships in Cow Milking. Fred has always been a staunch advocate of rodeo development, especially youth rodeo. He was instrumental in forming the Indian Rodeo Cowboys Association and was co-founder of the Indian National Finals Rodeo Commission. In the 1970ís Fred became active in the Canadian Old Timers Rodeo Association and served on their board for 12 terms. He joined the NSPRA during this period and became a consistent NSPRA Finals qualifier in Calf Roping, Ribbon Roping and Team Roping. Fred Gladstone has won 12 saddles, over 90 buckles and numerous trophies over his 50+ year rodeo career. He has also made his mark as a rancher, politician and businessman, as well as a Statesman for his beloved Blood Tribe in Southern Alberta.
