Horace Rankin was born in Junction, Texas December
13, 1928. Being a life-long roper and excelling at it is because
of the skills he learned from his father.
Horace was one of the first to become a member of the
NOTRA before it became known as the National Senior Pro
Rodeo Association. He served as the Calf Roping
Director on the NSPRA Board of Directors for nearly ten
years.
Horace won the World Champion Titles in Calf Roping
two consecutive years and has qualified for the NSPRA
Finals each year in both calf roping and the team roping
events. Along with his wife, LaRue, they have won the
Ribbon Roping Titles twice. Horace has acquired thirty
five saddles and over sixty buckles throughout his rodeo career.
