Tater Decker

Tater was born in 1924 in Roswell, NM and now lives in Clayton,
OK. He was raised on the famed Diamond A Cattle Ranch where his
father, Tim Decker was a wagon boss for six years and foreman for
36 years.
Tater entered his first rodeo at 15 and became one of the greatest
all around hands of his time. Tater joined the Cowboys Turtle
Association in early 1943, which later became the Rodeo Cowboy
Association, now the PRCA. In 1980 he joined the National Senior
Pro Rodeo Association where he served on the Executive Board as
both Vice President and President.
Tater has won most every major rodeo at one time or another from
Madison Square Garden to Fort Worth and Houston, Denver and
Cheyenne. He even won the All Around Cowboy at Roseburg,
Oregon. Tater also roped the first calf ever on national television.
Tater always was and always will be a rodeo cowboy. "I can't ever
remember a time when I ever wanted to be anything else, I love
every minute of it."
